Uhm, yeah – I AM still here.  And I still Knit.  Things have been crazy n good at my house this summer – so I’ve not been blogging.  Ravelry is my newest addiction.  If you use Ravelry – I’m AprilBroken.  If you knit, and DON’T use Ravelry – get yourself signed up!

So – what Have I done since I was last here?

Well – the boys are hard and heavy into scouting (still) and I haven’t put this picture up from Memorial Day (so I will now).  I did the color-work on it, then had a few printed to send to our friends in the military for 4th of July/Thank You cards.

I got some lovely yarns from Kris in the KnitFlix swap I was in (the two front ones):

The yarns are All Things Heather Spring Fling and Perchance to Knit Popscicle.  Of course they will become socks!

(Me – not anyone else.)

Its been so hectic here in Okieland, that I keep forgetting to come here and post!

Here is what I’ve been up to:

Sent Zack to Boy Scout Camp.  He did really well.  It was his first week away from home with out ANY family to turn to.  He earned 4 Merit Badges while he was there, and I think he’s finished his Tenderfoot Badge.  We’ve unpacked him and done all the laundry that he brought back with him.  Unfortunately, his Boy Scout Shirt wasn’t one of the things he brought back – UGH.

Mack is at Cub Scout Day Camp this week.  Its been a lot of fun to coordinate that schedule – let me tell you!  Camp runs from 8:30-3:30.  Now – what kind of 2-income family do you know that can work that kind of schedule?  Not to many – thats fersure!

I had surgery yesterday to remove a lipoma (DO NOT Google Image search that – really – DON”T).  It was sitting at the base of my skull, causing occipital neuralgia.  The pain from having it cut out – so far – is less bothersome than the headaches it was causing.

I’ve done some knitting – but no real progress on anything yet.  Its summer in Oklahoma, so things just S L O W   D O W N – a lot.

I did spin this tho:

Details:  Roving from Danielle in two lovely & coordinating shades of greens/blues

Yardage = I don’t have a clue (yet)

WPI = again – no clue (yet)

Squishy factor = HIGH

Plans – pair with some Cascade 220 for Fuzzy Feet

Just a quick post before the weekend (a LONG weekend)!

I am still knitting – socks, of course!

Snicket in Regia Silk

I’m loving it!

 Swap updates:

 Hogwarts Sock Kit:

The Bag is made, the sock yarn is in hand, the pattern needs chosen, the needles purchased, and goodies secured.

Summer Blockbuster:

The movie has been chosen, sock yarn selected, goodies decided upon, bag needs made still.

Those are my cousins initials.  He was killed today in a traffic accident.  I know I’ll see him again.  He leaves behind a wonderful wife and a lovely son.  This picture of him is as a toddler, and the onlyone I have as a digital image.

I signed up for another swap! It is Summer Blockbuster hosted by CraftLilly.
I’ll be swapping with Kris.
Here is my Questionairre:

Since this is a summer blockbuster swap, would you rather receive a summer action/adventure movie, a light romantic comedy, or a suspense/thriller?
I love romantic comedy/Chick Flicks! I also like adventure movies if they are clean (National Treasure).

What is your favorite film genre or type?
Chickflicks for myself – no questions

List 3-5 of your favorite films and why you like them.
Bridgette Jones (I & II) – Great for just “girl” time
Mona Lisa Smiles – Love when the girls LEARN about life
The Holiday – a little too “clean”, but good knits & entertaining

Do you like foreign films? Would it annoy you to watch a film with subtitles if you are knitting/crafting?
I’ve not been “exposed” to any foreign films, but knitting & reading give me motion sickness!

Is there a movie that you’ve always wanted to see but haven’t?
Not that I can think of off the top of my head

Do you have any favorite actors?
I don’t particularly follow them, but good eye candy makes even the worst movie easier to watch!

What kind of movie night treats do you like? Type of Candy? Popcorn?
Since this is summer time – and I’m trying to eat healthier – please no chocolate. I do like nuts (of almost ALL kinds), small hard candies, the boys will eat popcorn, but I don’t like it.

Are you a sock knitter, lace knitter, or hat/mitten/scarf knitter?
yes. Oh, are you wonder which I prefer? Depends of the mood of the day. Right now – Socks!

What are your favorite fibers?
Natural and superwash! Sock yarn is good w/ nylon.

What fibers do you dislike or are allergic?
Mohair (just during the summer months!)

What are your favorite colors?
Blues, Purples, Pinks, Spring Green, Brown

What colors do you not like?

Is there anything else that your partner should know that will help her spoil you?
Not that I can think of!

Well, Anne, one thing I had already done is browsed through the blogs of all my “housemates.”  Its like trying to figure out who your dorm-mates will be before going to college!

Anne – our Prefect (RA) is just learning to turn a heel.  She managed with with help from her sister VIA EMAIL!

Rae has a beautiful dog and is a member of the STR Club (I’m jealous of her!)

Maddalena just sounds like my kinda girl.  She likes to play dress-up in fancy clothes, likes History and even yutes.

Lia is in TWO Harry Potter based sock swaps, one a knit pair of socks, the other the kit.  Her sock swap questionairre has some good peotry in it!

Cheryl – oh MY!  I wanna knit colorwork like hers!

Jenean – she seems so sweet – like she’s going to be everyone’s best friend!

This is the summer of “Patch it, Paint it, Make it at least look good” House Renovations.  We need a lot of serious structural work on our house that we just can’t swing this year, but I’m tired of living in a 70’s style ranch house that is still heavy on the 70’s style.

Most of the work done will be paint related (cheap!) and done by me and the boys.

I’m using January One’s method of taking a picture for inspiration and tiling it in Photoshop to narrow the color palette.

Living Room color choices:  Blues, Sands, Whites, Coral

I’m hoping to get Leather furniture – and think this will go with leather.Living Room Palette

My Bedroom Color Choices: Shades of green with a touch of purpleMaster Bed

Mack’s Room:

Its a lot of blues & greens, but I really think it will update the house A LOT.

I’ll try to get pics of the progress.  The first room will be the bathroom because the wallcovering is already off!

So – what do you girls think?

So, a couple of posts ago, I showed a VERY blurry picture of a start of Toe Up Socks.  The yarn in PromDress from ArtsyGal and can purchased from her store (link in her sidebar) when she makes more.

This pic above shows the colors best.  I love the way they are coming out.

This pic actually shows the row/stitch marker I LOVE.  Its an Omega from Ana.  The slip around like a locking split ring, but w/o locking!  and they DO NOT Snag or DANGLE!

You can get your own from Ana’s Store.

UPDATED:  Lookit!  I even managed to get my BADGE up!

I signed up for a Harry Potter-based sock kit swap over at Hogwarts and need to post my questionairre.

I’m really excited about this movie & book coming out this summer.  Our finances are tight enough that “vacation” is going to be a couple of Drive-in Movies each month of summer.  Harry Potter at the Drive-in!  I’m ready.  Drive-in movies are GREAT for knitting or reading at.

 Here is my Questionairre:

1. What Hogwarts house have you been sorted into?

Well, 3 out of 4 “sorting” tools sorted me to Hufflepuff.  I guess I’ll take it.  It’s a good house to be I guess.

2. List your three favorite double-point needle brands, including size and length.

Addi Turbo size 0, 32 inches or longer

Inox size 1, 5-6 inches

Addi Turbo, what comes smaller than a 0? In 32 inces or longer

3. Would you like to try a new brand needle? If so, which brand? Size? Length?

I’d like to try some rosewood or ebony sock needles, size 0, shorter lengths, but I’m scared I’d break them!

4. If you are a RAVENCLAW, do you prefer the colors in the film or the book? Do you have a strong preference?

5. If your pal decides to send candies or chocolates are there any that you don’t like?

Bertie Bots in the nasty flavors (vomit, ear wax, sardine, horseradish), but otherwise – all candy is good candy!

6. What are your favorite scents?

To wear = Citrus

To smell = Clean linen/cotton (laundry)

7. Do you have any allergies?Smoke (of any kind – incense even)

Thanks Swapper Pal – I’m looking forward to this!

Now that Zackary is a BOY Scout, he is able to go on more and better (IMO) outings than the Cub Scouts.  This past weekend, we ventured to Metroplexia to see a NASCAR race.

Socks @ TMS

The socks really enjoyed the race.

Zack @ Race
Zachary did too.

Mack had so much fun, he fell asleep – at NASCAR.
Mack @ Race
And for reference as to how close we were to the track – look at that pic of Zack.  One more row of seating, then the safety/Hot zone, then track!  Its LOUD!

Mack had much more fun here:

Other places we went this weekend (actual stops)  Oklahoma City, Fort Worth, Arlington, Keller, Dallas, Sherman, and Denton.

We had fun, and we’re already planning for next year!

PS – I also talked to Monkee because we were breathing the same Metroplexia air, and I saw this – reminding me of all the Chat Girls (and Anthony).
